MEKRA Lang received the 2018 Daimler Supplier Award in the innovation category for its Digital VisionSystem available on the Mercedes-Benz Actros, at the 11th annual Daimler Supplier Awards presented in Stuttgart, Germany.
“Our new Actros is the first series production Mercedes-Benz in the world to have digital rearview mirrors. Elegant, efficient and safe: MEKRA Lang pushed technology to the next level,” said Marcus Schoenenberg, vice president for global procurement of trucks and buses at Daimler AG.
“Our Digital VisionSystem is the first digital rearview mirror technology to be driven on the road out of a series truck production, replacing mirrors completely and it is not only functional but incredibly effective and reliable,” said Werner Lang, president of MEKRA Lang. “We are honored to be leading the charge in camera and mirror vision systems, and look forward to announcing additional applications of this innovation in other parts of the world soon.”
Mekra boasts to be the first company to be recognized with Daimler Supplier Award for the third time. It was previously awarded in the Performance Category and Exterior Category in 2012 and 2008 respectively.
Digital VisionSystem is certified by TÜV Rheinland and meets functional safety requirements in accordance with ISO 26262.
