Two of North America’s leading electric vehicle charging networks, Greenlots and ChargePoint, have entered a roaming partnership that would allow charging between networks.

Commencing next year, this collaboration will provide access to thousands of added charging sites throughout North America without extra cost.

"The EV charging industry is experiencing a period of critical growth and evolution," Greenlots Senior Vice President Lin-Zhuang Khoo said. "This once-fragmented industry is building momentum towards true driver interoperability thanks to adoption of standards like the Open Charge Point Interface that are beneficial to drivers, automakers, grid operators and charging infrastructure providers."

This trend is occurring in advance of major policy changes or other external forces — a sign the EV-charging market is maturing in concert with surging customer demand for EVs.

"The electric mobility revolution is upon us and there is no turning back," Michael Hughes, ChargePoint's chief commercial and revenue officer, said. "For more than a decade, ChargePoint has worked to create an open and accessible network that enables drivers to enjoy an effortless charging experience everywhere they live, work and play."

The partnership presents support in advancing the use of electric vehicles as it provides a seamless experience to encourage non-EV users to switch to EVs.
