Automotive News' yearly list is based on the feedback from the dealerships’ employees.

"We're proud of all of our stores that participated in the 'Best Dealerships to Work For' program," Bryan DeBoer, president and CEO of Lithia Motors, said. "It's a great example of our mission Growth Powered by People. They create their own cultures that are appropriate for their local customers, franchise and team members and this results in higher employee satisfaction and customer satisfaction."

Several general managers acknowledged Lithia leadership when asked how they create a positive environment.

"Lithia supports us in creating a positive work environment," George Yazbek, GM of DCH Lexus of Oxnard, said. "As one of our core values, having fun is important in the workplace and we appreciate that our company encourages that."

Yazbek said a happy team makes for happy customers, a sentiment Steve Handler, general manager at Audi of Oxnard, agreed with.

"It feels good to know our employees are happy to work here," Handler said. "This is my favorite award because it's so nice to know that the people who work here enjoy coming to work and our customers feel it."
