AutoNation Inc. has entered a digital partnership with the country’s fastest-growing car subscription company, Fair.

The collaboration offers a new customer experience when it comes to owning used and certified pre-owned vehicles at AutoNation dealerships, bringing car shoppers to an easier access in choosing the vehicles through their mobile phones.

Furthermore, with the new partnership with Fair, AutoNation dealerships will have an added avenue to match consumers with the vehicles that are the best fit for their customers’ needs.

Fair's subscription model allows consumers to keep a car as long as they need or want and cease owning it at any time without penalty. Each Fair car has a limited warranty, routine maintenance, and roadside assistance. Clients can also add extra services such as insurance, increase miles or excess wear-and-tear protection at checkout and bundle it all into one easy, transparent monthly payment.

"We're absolutely delighted to build this strategic partnership with AutoNation, the leading automotive retailer in the U.S. with an unwavering commitment to the used car sector and its customers" Georg Bauer, Fair's co-founder and chairman, said. "We're putting digital capabilities to work that allow customers to shop for vehicles and transact on them from the convenience of a smartphone. We're focused on making getting a car as easy as streaming a movie."

AutoNation will start its rollout in California this month to kickstart the newest approach in auto dealerships.

"The innovation of Fair's model is unique," Mike Jackson, AutoNation's chairman and CEO, said. "We are excited about the potential of this partnership to give our customers an alternative to traditional ownership via Fair's subscription model, which lets customers return their cars when desired. From a dealer's perspective, this will help increase the velocity of the used car business while also enhancing our access to new customer groups."
