Most of us have certain bad habits that take a toll on our vehicles. We do not realize the implications of our actions until they show up in our cars.

First, keeping your fuel tank low while on the road can damage your vehicle in the long run. On the contrary, adding extra gas can help save your car from premature damage.

Resting your hand on the shifter is not a good habit, either. In fact, the more you do it, the more you add stress on your transmission’s bushings and synchronizers that can result to premature wear. Hence, avoid this habit by keeping both hands on the wheel.

Avoiding all your warning lights is a no-no when it comes to car care. It’s not a good idea to think that the lights will eventually subside and get back to normal. The truth is, those warning signals are telling you something. When that happens, you should address it immediately -- or risk damaging your vehicle and spending more than you expected.

Sudden shifting should also not be done as it can do a lot of damage to your drivetrain. Instead of shifting gears while you are ongoing, go to a complete stop before shifting gears. Your internal car parts will thank you later for that.

Excessive braking can also take a toll on your car, as well as hitting your brake to a complete halt. These bad vehicle habits can lead to premature wear and tear on your brake pads that can lead to brake failure if left ignored.

If you are guilty of one of these bad habits, it is best to remove that habit as soon as possible. Moreover, have your car serviced immediately by skilled professionals once you notice any problems with your car.
