Hank Graff Mt. Pleasant offers advice on keeping car fluids in tip-top condition

Hank Graff Mt. Pleasant marked National Car Care Month with a blog post stressing the importance of a vehicle's oil, coolant and washer fluids.

With summer just around the corner, the Michigan dealership shared the importance of these crucial fluids, noting that they are essential to helping your car run smoothly.

A good car oil helps reduce heat due to friction, keeps the engine running clean and prevents premature wear, according to the blog post. Normally, oil changes should be done every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, depending on your car’s usage or if you are using synthetic oil; but Hank Graff Mt. Pleasant recommends owners check their vehicle manuals for specific instructions.

It's also recommended that owners take their vehicle to an automotive professional if they notice coolant leaks. Also known as antifreeze, coolant controls the temperature for vehicle components, including the radiator.

Lastly, washer fluid helps keep a vehicle's windshield clean for the best visibility. Whether a car has a washer fluid level indicator or not, the service crew at Hank Graff recommends vehicle owners check fluid levels regularly and refill as needed with a pre-diluted washer fluid.
