The Dodge Ram's easy-off tailgate can be removed from the pickup box to mount an in-bed camper, install a tailgate net, or provide a louvered or vented tailgate for fifth-wheel towing.

To remove the tailgate, open it and support it underneath. Next, release the lock from the pivot and unhook the cables on both sides. Lift the tailgate to a 45-degree angle and lift the right side higher to remove it from the hanger bracket. After that, slide the entire tailgate to the right to remove the bracket from the left side. Finally, remove the tailgate.

For video instructions, visit the Fremont Motor Co.'s YouTube page. Written instructions on disconnecting the rear-view camera and remote keyless entry are available through their website.

As per Mopar’s owners’ manual, do not store the tailgate loosely in the bed of the truck. It is also important not to close the tailgate when driving to improve fuel efficiency.
