Volkswagen has unveiled its new R-Line Tiguan for the 2018 model year, according to a post from Fremont Motors.

The 2018 Tiguan has been awarded a "Top Safety Pick" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, ranking superior for front-crash prevention. It also won numerous awards for the 2017 model from various entities.

The R-Line has an eight-speed automatic transmission, a 184-horsepower engine, and room for up to seven people inside. It is available on the top two trim levels, the SEL and SEL Premium.

It gets an estimated mileage of 23 miles per gallon highway and city driving. The R-Line sports package has 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels on the SEL or 20-inch on the SEL Premium version. The bumpers also look completely different than on other Tiguan models. The rear bumper has a built-in diffuser. Wheel arch extensions and side skirts add to the sportiness of the R-Line.

The headliner inside is black, with sporty pedals under foot.

The R-Line package also includes a Park Pilot parking assistance setup and will be on sale soon this year.
