Aston Martin enthusiasts are talking up the Aston Martin Valkyrie after a recent viewing in California, but they'll have to wait a couple years for its release, as it's being tested and prepped to be at its best.

There will only be 150 Valkyries available for purchase, and the price for one of these rare rides is $2.6 million, a posting on Bloomberg said. The futuristic-looking vehicle is described as a hybrid race car with over 1,000 horsepower and a V-12 engine with an electric motor.

“They’re excited,” Aston Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman said in the posting of those eager to purchase a Valkyrie. “They’re literally 150 boys and girls waiting for Christmas.”

The vehicle is said to be very comfortable, although it places the driver in a "vulnerable" race car position, according to Reichman. Though the car is fancier than your ordinary street car, it is designed to be able to take an every day spin.

“We want this to be a car that you could take for a drive up Ocean Avenue (in nearby Carmel) just to enjoy it,” Reichman said in the posting. “Air conditioning will be there – it’s a very tight cabin, so it’s actually relatively easy. But you’re not going to have massaging seats.”

The Valkyrie is still being prepped for perfection. Some parts of the model, like the hybrid motor components, are still being developed. It will also need to be road tested. The Valkyrie will likely not be available until 2019.
