Volkswagen Digital Cockpit brings options to a big-screen display

Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit information display, available on the 2018 Atlas and Tiguan, offers a huge screen and many personalization options, according to a press release on the Ancira Volkswagen website.

The Atlas has an optional 12.3-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit display with 1440 x 540-pixel resolution.

This large display allows plenty of personalization options such as enlarging a navigation map or adjusting the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) 1 system. Digital Cockpit's options are easy to read and adjust, according to the press release. In addition, you can set it to recognize you and up to three other drivers by name as the vehicle starts. It can activate driver preferences automatically, including the seat and mirror positions and a favorite radio station.

Hands-free calling is built into the system and works with compatible smartphones.

An off-road viewing option shows the angle of the vehicle's front wheels and a compass, as well as an altimeter, which makes mountain drives more intriguing.

A pedestrian alert system, built into models with front assist, detects nearby pedestrians and displays the information on screen.

For those who don't want so much information, Classic View shows traditional speedometer and tachometer displays in full size, the release states.

Digital Cockpit is a standard feature on the 2018 Atlas SEL Premium.
