Three Kia models win Red Dot design awards

Three Kia vehicles recently won Red Dot design awards from Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen of Germany.

The Optima Sportswagon, Niro and Rio all won Red Dot honors. The Europe-only Optima Sportswagon tourer won Best of the Best distinction for vehicle design, according to a press release from Ancira Kia. The Rio was named Winner for its upgrades, while the Niro HUV won an Honorable Mention for its design and attention to detail.

Kia has won 18 Red Dot awards since receiving its first in 2009, according to the press release.

Kia has won several other design awards already this year, grabbing three iF Design Awards in February for the same three 2017 vehicle models. This is the eighth straight year Kia has won iF design recognition. So far, Kia has won 12 iF awards.

"Our global design team has every right to be proud of this new triple triumph as it underlines Kia’s high design quality, which is unanimously recognized by experts," Peter Schreyer, president and chief designer at Kia Motors Corp., said in the release.
