Ancira Volkswagen offers peek at updates in upcoming Golf series

Volkswagen showed off its 2018 Golf vehicles, all updated from the 2017 versions, at the recent New York International Auto Show, a release on the Ancira Volkswagen of San Antonio website said.

The new Golf vehicles, which will be available for sale in autumn, feature interiors and exteriors that have been updated to show off sharp lines. New bumpers and chrome grilles are also included. All Golf models will have full LED taillights and standard daytime running lights, and LED headlights replace the older style bi-xenon lights, the release said.

The infotainment systems in 2018 Golfs will have larger touch screens, boosting the screen size from 6.5 inches from the previous 5 inches.

Most SE and higher versions of the Golf will have driver assistance systems, along with front-assist emergency braking. Front assist also includes pedestrian monitoring. Lane assist and park assist are offered on some models.

The Golf R, which is the most powerful Golf sold in North America, will be available with a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed automatic dual clutch. The composition media system in this model will come with an 8-inch display. The R also has keyless access and push-button start, heated leather sport seats and an auto-dimming rearview mirror, among other features.
