Penske Truck Leasing wins another EPA SmartWay Affiliate Challenge Award

Penske Truck Leasing has won a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay Affiliate Challenge Award for the fifth year in a row, according to a press release on the Penske website.

"Being recognized as a five-time honoree is quite an accomplishment," Drew Cullen, Penske Truck Leasing senior vice president of fuels and facility services, said in the release. "We appreciate the opportunity to consistently provide our customers with the means to enhance, or to create, quality sustainability programs that support their business models."

The SmartWay Affiliate Challenge recognizes organizations that help promote a clean-energy economy by educating business representatives, communities and drivers about how to reduce transportation emissions and help protect the environment.

"EPA commends the SmartWay Affiliate Challenge honorees for their extraordinary level of commitment and enthusiasm in supporting more efficient and sustainable business practices in moving goods," Christopher Grundler, director of the EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality, said in the release. "These organizations represent diverse industry sectors and stakeholders who believe that American prosperity can be preserved while protecting the environment."

Penske is among nine organizations to receive the award this year.

Penske promoted the SmartWay program by attending and making presentations at sustainability conferences, as well as creating new strategies to educate Penske customers and associates about ways to better protect the environment.
