VW premieres safety-oriented Atlas

As the only vehicle in its class to offer automatic post-collision braking as well as additional high-tech selections, the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas offers a range of options.

Volkswagen of America Inc. recently announced the seven-passenger SUV’s pricing, with a starting Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $30,500 for its four-cylinder TSI turbo model with four-wheel drive. Its 3.6-liter VR6 model, available as four-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive is $31,900. Both engine types sport an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Built in Chattanooga, Tennessee, this vehicle comes with standard equipment along with options for many high-tech extras. The cabin features a roomy interior and easy third-row access.

Additionally, the 2018 Atlas sports award-winning Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) design, rendering it a pleasure to drive, according to the Volkswagen announcement. The Atlas is expected to arrive at dealerships in May. 

Five different trim styles are available.

Six models are available, including the Atlas S; Atlas S Launch; Atlas SE; Atlas SE with Technology; Atlas SEL, and Atlas SEL Premium. Option packages comprise second-row captain’s chairs in lieu of a bench seat, creating a six-passenger space; R-Line trim selections for a sportier exterior look; and/or black wheels, consisting of 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels for the SEL and SEL Premium model vehicles.
