CarMax celebrates opening of Albany. New York store with donations to two nonprofits

CarMax Inc. celebrated the opening of its new Albany, New York, store with a $2,500 donation to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York and a $5,000 grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Albany.

The new CarMax location, at 1860 Central Ave. in Albany, has room for approximately 200 used cars, the company said in a release.

The donation the the food bank will provide more than 10,000 meals to the underprivileged in the area, the release said. CarMax associates who recently volunteered at the food bank nominated the food bank to receive the CarMax donation, the release said.

The $5,000 grant to the Boys & Girls Club will support programs benefiting more than 300 area youth, the release. CarMax associates had recommended the group receive the grant.

“CarMax associates know the importance of being a good neighbor and make it a priority to give back to the communities where we live and work,” Mark Adkins, general manager at CarMax Albany, said in the release. “CarMax is growing nationwide and the company is excited to bring the simple and stress-free used car buying experience to Albany.”

CarMax customers can look through all the makes and models available at carmax.com and request specific vehicles to be sent to the Albany location or other CarMax site.
