CarMax opens 35-acre facility in Murrieta, California

CarMax Inc. recently unveiled its largest multipurpose location on the West Coast with the grand opening celebration of CarMax Murrieta, a 35-acre property in California that includes a general public outlet for used cars, a reconditioning hub for the region and a four-lane auction facility.

“The CarMax Auctions business is continuing to grow and we have been holding two auctions per week at some of our CarMax locations in the Los Angeles region in order to keep up with demand,” CarMax Murrieta Auction Services Location General Manager Carlos Raygoza said in a CarMax release. “The new four-lane auction facility in Murrieta will greatly support our continued growth as we look forward to serving as many as 500 local dealers attending the auction on a weekly basis.”

In opening the Murrieta location, CarMax has brought more than 250 jobs to the area and demonstrated a commitment to community service through donations that include a $5,000 donation to local nonprofit Micelle’s Place, a $10,000 grant to the Murrieta Boys & Girls Club and a $10,000 grant to the Special Olympics Southern California.

“Our Murrieta associates have been so excited about the volunteer activities we’ve been doing with these wonderful organizations in the area,” Christian Petersen, location general manager at CarMax Murrieta, said in the release. “CarMax encourages associates to get involved and give back to our local communities and we are pleased to continue making a positive impact in Murrieta.”
